- The University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) is one of the most modern universities in the UK. Located in the heart of the port city of Bristol, it has the largest student population in the UK. It is estimated that UWE Bristol is home to international students from more than 140 countries, including Vietnam.
- Over the past six years, the university has invested more than £300 million in its campus facilities. The vibrant campus community includes over 160 sports clubs and societies, centred around the new Students’ Union building, which is located in the heart of the campus. International students will feel at home here with a range of support services to help them settle in, including orientation, study trips and events throughout the year. The University provides outstanding support for its international community and has been nominated for Whatuni’s International University of the Year 2022.
- UWE Bristol’s programmes are designed to be practical and relevant, so students can start thinking about studentsr career path from the start of the course. Some courses also incorporate employer partnerships, and in 2018/19 there were over 8,000 work placements undertaken by UWE Bristol students. Courses such as construction, computing and engineering also allow students to meet and be mentored by potential employers, giving students a first-hand look at studentsr future career.
- The annual careers fair features over 180 employers from a range of sectors, and InfoHub promoted over 3,500 jobs for current and graduating students from UWE Bristol in 2019/20.
- 90.2% of students in employment or further study within 15 months of graduating.
- Development and Innovation:
- UWE Bristol is continually improving its offering to students in terms of teaching, courses and the campus environment, with over £300 million invested in facilities over the past six years, including:
- £7 million to redevelop the university’s science laboratories, supporting student research and undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
- A £55 million investment in a new business school building, providing 5,500 students with the opportunity to gain practical experience and work in a collaborative environment.
- A £5 million investment in a new optometry and clinical skills centre will provide a practical learning space for optometry, paramedics and occupational therapy students.
- A further £10 million investment in the University’s City campus will provide state-of-the-art resources for its award-winning film studios.
- A brand new multi-million dollar state-of-the-art Engineering Building
- New accommodation for over 2,200 students is being built at the Frenchay Campus, with the first 900 rooms due to be completed from September 2023
