Founded in 1872 and originally known as Concord College in 1943, Concord University has undergone significant development over the years. In 2004, the institution transitioned into a comprehensive higher education organization offering four-year degree programs and officially changed its name to Concord University.   • The main campus in Athens houses buildings such as Marsh Hall (known as ADMIN on campus). The Science Building, adjacent to Marsh Hall, houses science laboratories, notably the university's electronic microprobe laboratory, which is the only microelectronics laboratory in West Virginia. Other support buildings and facilities include the Alexander Fine Arts Center, which houses art galleries, the HC Paul Theater, the Carter Fitness Center, a cafeteria, student support offices, an observatory, the J. Frank Marsh Library, which houses library materials and provides computer labs with internet access, and the Callaghan Stadium and Anderson Field.
